Bachhala Malli Movie Review: Naresh is not only a comedy star, there are some movies that show that he is an intense performer. After the success of comedy movies decreased, Naresh took steps towards serious roles. Movies like Naandhi gave him success. However... the one thing he did to entertain turned out to be a flop. So he took steps towards serious roles again. 'Solo Brathuke So Better' fair Subbu Mangadevi directed Bachhala Malli. How is this movie? Will Naresh add another success to his account? Or not?
Bachhala Malli Movie Story:
Malli (Naresh) has immense love for his father. A father has a love for his son. However... he has an affair with another woman. Naresh's grandfather does not accept that relationship. With that, Malli leaves his mother (Rohini) and leaves the house. From that moment on, Malli develops an intense hatred for his father. He gets used to cigarettes, drugs, and going to prostitutes. After Malli is introduced to Kaveri Amrutha Iyer, he becomes a normal person again. He gives up all his bad habits. He starts the gunny bag business.\
Why did Malli, who dreamed of marrying the girl he loved, turn his life around again? Who attempted to kill him while he was lying on the road in a drunken stupor? What did Ganapathi Raju Achyut Kumar, the president of the gunny bag business association, do? Who is Ramana (Ankit Koyya), who came into Malli's life? You should watch the movie to find out who and what happened to him.
Bachhala Malli Analysis:
Character-driven films have become more common in the Telugu film industry. They are designing a special characterization for the hero. If it clicks and the audience connects, it is a huge success. The latest example of that is Pushpa 2. Before that, 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Rangasthalam' can also be mentioned. However... is one character enough to make a hit film? Don't we need a story, narrative, and emotions? Directors and writers should think about this. Otherwise, the character will be wasted. Without the right story, emotions, or feeling, the audience watching the film will be left without any feeling.
Subbu Mangadevi thought that 'Bachala Malli' would be a characterization like this. But, are the scenes that suit the character? Or is the film moving forward according to the characterization? Or not? He didn't care. Malli is under the illusion that he is living as he pleases because he is angry with his father. And what sin did his mother commit? Why didn't she care about his feelings? It is natural for the audience to have questions like this in their minds. Okay... Let's assume that he didn't care about anyone! What is it that changes when the girl comes? What is the scene that makes him fall in love with that girl? The movie is good for those who feel that such logic is not needed. But, for the rest of them, they will feel like the movie is going on like this. It will be difficult to connect with Malli and his life.
Good artists like Naresh, Rao Ramesh, Achyut Kumar, and Amrutha Iyer - talented technicians worked on the movie. The character of Bachala Malli was also achieved. But, director and writer Subbu Mangadevi failed in writing the right scenes - in cultivating emotions. The movie was made without any excitement with routine and regular scenes. Although the story and hero character setup are good, the whistle-worthy moments in the movie were few. From the love story ending to the climax, the emotional drama was not achieved. There is not a single high moment in the rest of the story. I don't know what benefit the story got from Achyut Kumar's character and that villainy.
Since the character of Bachala Malli is new, even though there is no high moment in terms of writing, Naresh's acting and some scenes seem okay in the first half. But, the second half became too routine. With the feeling of missing the soul, we had to wait and see when the film would end until the climax.
What should I say for a word... No matter how the story and scenes are? Naresh's on-screen and off-screen music director Vishal Chandrasekhar worked with all their heart. 'Bachala Malli' will be a film that will always be remembered in Naresh's journey as an actor. They gave a fantastic performance. We do not see Naresh except as the character of Malli on screen. Songs, background music... Vishal Chandrasekhar's music also tried to bring life to this film. But, the weak writing wasted the efforts of both of them. The actors including Amrutha Iyer acted according to their roles. Brahma Kadali's production design and Richard M Nathan's camera work are good. They succeeded in bringing that rustic feel. The rest of the technical team worked according to the story.
Subbu Mangadevi, who created a unique character in a raw and rustic backdrop, failed to make an equally unique film - to maintain the characterization. Are there any noteworthy points in his writing? I mean... there are. The visual of Tarajuvvalu coming from behind the hero in the fair fight - the scene where Swami garlands Harsha Chemudu is good. Although there are some such moments, this film does not have the power to keep people sitting in the theaters from the start to the end. Sorry Malli (Naresh)... we should try again for success.
