Vikatakavi Web Series Analysis:
The principle followed by directors and writers in thriller web series or movies is to maintain suspense till the end! In this process, it is natural to create unnecessary characters and scenes that make those characters suspicious. Director-writers Pradeep Maddali - Teja Deshraj, who created 'Vikatakavi' without such scenes, should be praised.
At the beginning of 'Vikatakavi', a character who comes into the Hyderabad police station scene plays a key role after a few turns. A character who gambles in a toddy shop takes the story to an unexpected turn. The character of a simple teacher helps in showing the hero a path. A purpose has been created for each character in the story. A character arc has been designed. In that regard, writer Teja Deshraj has scored good marks.
He has not only created the setup required for a thrilling series... he has given a good story and screenplay. The story that started out simply has been taken up by linking it to patriotism and Pakistani terrorism and has increased the span of the series. Prashanth Varma has given Teja Deshraj's story to 'Kalki'. After that, it can be said that he has another hit.
Even if he does not make a missed lead to give the audience a thrill... he does not do hints or next twist leads in the story. But, this series did not do that. If you watch carefully, some twists can be easily identified, such as when the hero comes out of the tunnel near the temple, when a deranged person says something, and the hero says that he cannot smell it. However, director Pradeep Maddali showed his talent in those scenes. He created interest by giving hints. Even though the twists were predictable... he made the series engaging. The way the hero's quest for a handshake was executed was good. Detailing in small details helped build curiosity.
Conviction and command were visible in Pradeep Maddali's direction. There was no deviation from the story. Not only did he get a good output from the technical team... he made the series crispy. The scene where the hero and heroine are introduced is simple. But it is cute. The scene when the hero goes into the forest for the first time, the fight in the jeep, etc. was done in a way that is not inferior to big movies. 'Vikatakavi' was given a grand look.
The biggest plus of 'Vikatakavi' is the periodic backdrop. The story begins in the 1970s, goes to 1940 in the middle, and then comes back to 70. This background makes 'Vikatakavi' look new. Good work has been done in terms of production design. However... budget constraints were visible in many scenes. Electric shock, flight takeoff, and rain on the hill of gods would have been good if there was a budget. The camera work is good. Ajay Arasada's background music goes along with the story. It slowly immerses you in the story.
Vikatakavi Actors Performance:
Naresh Agastya, from dressing to acting, represents a simple common man and makes him seem like a detective. Looks and dialogue delivery are a plus for him. Once again, he was impressed with his good acting. Megha Akash did a good job in her role. Raghu Kunche, Shiju Abdul Rashid, Mukhtar Khan, Ashok Kumar, and Amit Tiwari are regular roles but they are set in the story. Tarak Ponnappa played a very important role.
Vikatakavi... A simple, exciting thriller series. It's like a slow poison. The periodic setup, Naresh Agastya's acting, and Pradeep Maddali's direction are appealing. If you start enjoying the magic without thinking about logic... once you start, you will watch it till the end. Another big plus of 'Vikatakavi' is the run time. It has six episodes. Each episode is about 35 minutes long... That's it!
